Pitbulls are wonderful additions to families! They are not only wonderful deterrents from potential bad guys but they can also have gentle natures. Their controversial use in dog fighting often gives them a bad reputation. These bad reputations often lead to local governments trying to restrict the breed. However, like all dogs, much of their behaviors stem from what they've learned. That means a Pitbull can be a wonderfully gentle dog if trained correctly. To help integrate this wonderful canine into your life, here are over 450+ Pitbull dog names!

Nature versus Nurture in Pitbulls
Pitbulls receive a really bad reputation due to their use in dog fighting. They also have been noted to not want to unlock their jaws when biting. These two components combine to paint Pitbulls as aggressive and scary dogs. However, opinion is now moving in the other direction.
ASPCA stated in a public announcement: "All dogs, including pit bulls, are individuals. Treating them as such, providing them with the care, training and supervision they require, and judging them by their actions and not by their DNA or their physical appearance."
One of the most famous dog handlers alive, Cesar Millan, often used a Pitbull to calm down ill-mannered dogs. This helps prove that training is often essential when it comes to these wonderful family additions.
However, it is possible to use this bad reputation to your advantage: Pitbulls can scare would be bad guys into thinking twice.

Love the info however I have a question, which dog is best to keep indoors and also for protection male or female.
Hi Gloria, whilst many different dogs are used to guard, their behavior is rarely linked to gender. Most breeds are eager-to-please, therefore they will do what you ask of them. We view all breeds of dogs as pets.
My pit bull name is Majic
My bluenose is Doc Holliday (Doc for short) still a very uncommon name. The way I like it. My rednose is Maximus (Max for short) after Maximus the Gladiator
My best pitbull baby is named Fattykins. His litter mates are named sisters and little feller. Their mommas name was mami for “little mami”. But as with most dogs names we just dont call them that “one” name. My fattykins and his momma have LOTS of names stemming from the main one.
My red nose pit is named Mya pronounced. MI-Ah.
My Pit (girl) her name is Ciara, she the sweetest dog I ever met! She belonged to my son who passed away almost 6 yrs now. I’ve always asked him why do you always get pit bulls? But now I see why, if I wasn’t 67 yrs old, hey, I would get a pit puppy.
Strong Male Pitbull Names
There’s no denying that the Pitbull is a strong and powerful type of dog. I’ve seen many Pitbulls at the dog park and am continually impressed by their athleticism and strength.

Fun fact: My husband Kyle and I originally wanted to name our dog Mac, a name inspired by our love of Apple computers, but we didn’t realize just how tough it sounded until we said it out loud a few times.
Our new puppy was the beta of the pack and very sensitive, so that name just wasn’t a good fit. We went with Toby instead.
- Maverick – The definition of Maverick is “a person pursuing rebellious, even potentially disruptive, policies or ideas.” How perfect is that for an independent, spirited Pitbull?
- Nitro – Short for nitroglycerin, the explosive yellow liquid used in dynamite and other dangerous things, Nitro is a cool, unique idea for Pitbull names.
- Odin – In Germanic mythology, Odin is a widely revered god.
